We came here labor day weekend last year on Sunday to check if there had been any open sites for the one night. They did have some people leave and we got one. This till is one of my favorite campgrounds I've ever stayed at. The beach of Lake Michigan was a 3 minute walk from our tent site. Our site was surrounded by trees. We did have neighbors next to us but for the most part we felt alone. The beach is beautiful, and we went for a night walk to star watch. There was just a little outhouse bathroom, which we didn't mind. I have nothing negative to say about this campground :)

Good location to easily reach everything at the Dunes. The campground is beach accessible. The spots are pretty spacious and have picnic tables and fire pits. The staff is really helpful.

For a rustic site, the staff is great campsites are well kept with level pads for tents, etc. Good layout for some decent privacy. Careful for poison ivy around sites (would go 4.5 stars because of it) but there are some signs posted. Great biking trails connecting the site to nearby attractions.

One of my all time favorite campgrounds. Only downside is the beach does not afford a west facing view to watch the sunset. A drive to Glen Haven is one remedy.

We stayed at D. H. Day campground in Sleeping Bear dunes national lakeshore for a couple weeks around Memorial Day, and for about a week later in June. The campground borders a truly stunning beach, there's a great paved hike/bike trail, and at least two sites were able to accommodate our 42 foot motorhome (sites 85 and 28 - generator allowed at 28 but not 85 - midday sun exposure for solar power in 85 but not 28). We were fortunate to have had camp hosts Jim and Sue as neighbors while we were in site 85. They were immediately welcoming and gracious upon our arrival, and over the course of many interactions throughout our stay, they made great recommendations for hikes and restaurants in the area, and also educated us about the myriad joys of the Poison Ivy that was so delightfully abundant in the campground. Just kidding, the poison ivy is no fun. But if you do contact it, treat it like a heavy grease stain (scrub it off aggressively) and you'll be fine. Over all we couldn't have been happier with our stay.
